Sally Hansen Lightening

Hello everyone! Long time no talk!  It's been hectic around here but I wanted to stop in to say hi, and let you know I'm still here.  The semester is almost over (2 weeks left, yay!) so all of my final projects, papers, and presentations are due soon.  I've been busting like crazy trying to stay on top of all the work while dealing with frustrating professors.  Once things settle down a bit I'll be posting much more frequently.  And since summer is quickly approaching, that means more sun so I can take better photos for you!

So yesterday and today are supposed to be record high temperatures where I live, which means high 70's. In fact, it's 11 am where I live and it's already 72 degrees! I am so happy to have some warm, sunny weather.  And with the unusually warm weather means we have lots of thunderstorms.  Last night was crazy.  We had a huge thunderstorm hover over the town for a good half hour.  And I could see it like 50 miles away just getting closer and closer.  I love watching lightning so it was a really great show to watch it getting closer and bigger.

So, since it's been so sunny and I'm ready for summer, I decided to break out a nice, bright yellow.  And since I also have lots of thunderstorms I thought Sally Hansen Lightening would be perfect! (Side note - does anyone else think the name should have been "Lightning" and they just misspelled it?)

This is Sally Hansen Lightening, a bright, mustard yellow creme.    Lightening is part of the Insta-Dri collection so it was easy to work with, especially with that wide brush, which I love.  I needed 3 coats for complete opacity.

This is 3 coats of Lightening and 1 coat of quick dry top coat.

I decided to experiment a little bit and added 1 coat of Nubar 2010.  I hoped the orange/gold would pop on the nail, but it was barely visible.  It made for a neat speckled pattern though.  It sort of reminds me of a rock or mineral.

So there you go!  Thanks for reading! :)
